Mountain Biking

Herbert Grand Hotel is near mountain biking trails on Maine Huts and Trails and the sugarloaf outdoor center and the sugarloaf mountain bike festival

The Kingfield and Carrabassett Valley region offer a plethora of panoramic views, rugged and challenging terrain and picturesque scenery for mountain biking novices and enthusiasts alike.  The Sugarloaf Outdoor Center, located 14 miles from the Herbert Grand Hotel, features 50 miles of mountain biking trails, a bike shop for any last minute needs and mountain bike rentals for newbies.  Each year, in late September, the Carrabassett Valley chapter of NEMBA partners with Sugarloaf to host the Sugarloaf Mountain Bike Festival which features skills clinics, guided rides, evening concerts and more.

A second mountain biking option is the Maine Huts and Trails system of hiking trails.  Mountain biking along the trails is free and is accessible between May and late October each year.  The Maine Huts and Trails bike path entrances are 11.5 miles from the Herbert Grand Hotel and offers free parking.

All rooms at the Herbert Grand Hotel are newly renovated, so we respectfully request that guests do not bring mountain bikes into the rooms but we offer complementary locked storage for guest bikes.
